Autumn Leaves

We will be painting beautiful leaves from life and learning different watercolour techniques in order to reveal their glowing colours. The addition of ink  is an attractive way of defining leaf edges as winter approaches.

Winter Stems & Berries

Painting from life, we'll use watercolour in various ways, to show the beauty of seed heads and colourful berries with and without a background. Sepia ink will also be introduced, which is very effective for depicting berry stems and seed head shapes.

About Helen Clarke

Helen has always had a passion for art and has been painting in watercolour for over 40 years. She creates paintings which lift the spirit and enhance life. The wonderful flowing quality of watercolour is the ideal medium to achieve this.

Working from her Summer House Studio in Great Wilbraham, she overlooks an inspiring wild flower meadow with adjoining fields. Her subject is the natural world of flowers, landscape, still life or wildlife, freely capturing the essence of their natural beauty with a free, expressive style and sometimes incorporating mixed media.

Designing original watercolour greetings cards is a speciality and many are sold locally and internationally.

She has participated in Cambridge Open Studios since 2001 and has exhibited in various galleries. Her paintings and cards are exhibited at EJR Creative in Hasketon, Suffolk and her original cards are sold by Cambridge Contemporary Art. As a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society and the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists, she takes part in various group exhibitions

Small workshops are taught in her Summer House Studio to a wide variety of people and she is a regular tutor for Tindalls Art Shop in Newmarket, as well as EJR Art Creative in Hasketon, Suffolk, teaching a range of subjects.
